Tanya Dapkey

Entomologist, Research Technician
Tanya is an entomologist, research technician, and a mother of two, who is currently working at the University of Pennsylvania for Dr. Daniel Janzen on the Barcode of Life project.
She studied freshwater ecology for her Bachelors of Science degree at West Chester University. In 2009, she received her Master's degree in Environmental Studies at the University of Pennsylvania studying DNA barcoding and Macroinvertebrate sampling to assess water quality.
She is an active member of her community, cultivating STEM outreach activities to underprivileged children in the greater Philadelphia area with her 500 Women Scientists Group.
Tanya now works on cataloging the Lepidoptera and their parasitoids of the ACG, which will enable us to see the huge diversity of this planet and quantifies and gives value to the millions of species out in the world.
