Tanya currently lives with her husband of 11 years, her 8 year old son and 5 year old daughter in Levittown, Pennsylvania. Living in Bucks County allows her to continue to delve into her love of nature, hiking and photography.
She works in the field of entomology for Dr. Daniel Janzen at the University of Pennsylvania on The Barcode of Life Initiative. Her project focuses on the lepidoptera of the ACG (Area de Conservacion en Guanacaste) in Costa Rica.
Tanya's Master's thesis combined her two greatest interests, barcoding and stream macroinvertebrates, to create a breakthrough project that is now continuing on a global scale.
